Mack's Mates: The Animal Guardians

Mack shares a special bond with all the animals, but these three are his closest companions.

• Dozy (The Guide): More than a pet, Dozy is Mack's other half. Their connection is a kind of quiet magic. Dozy's special "Heartbeat Hum" is a soul-soothing, golden-orange glow that calms Mack's fears and guides him when he's lost. Mack understands Dozy's rumbles and hums better than anyone, a secret language of friendship that has saved them more than once.
• Whitey (The Scout): Mack's gentle albino kangaroo is his silent shadow. While Boss is the protector, Whitey is the keen-eyed scout. She was the one who found the bushranger's buckle and the hidden survey marker. Her quiet nature matches Mack's, and he trusts her sharp senses to spot danger or a hidden clue long before anyone else.
• Sooty (The Orphan): After making a silent promise to his dying mother, Mack became the primary caregiver for Sooty, the orphaned koala joey. Sooty is now Mack's little "furry backpack," often found clinging to his shoulders or sleeping in a basket by his bed. Raising Sooty has taught Mack about responsibility and given him a new, cuddly friend to protect.

Mack's Most Memorable Moments

• The Rescue of Dozy: When his best friend was taken by poachers, a terrified Mack had to find a courage he never knew he had. He tracked them into the dangerous Razorback Hills and, with Chrissy's help, staged a daring rescue right from the poachers' campfire!
• Solving the Kelly Gang's Secret: While everyone else was stumped by a 150-year-old riddle, Mack's quiet observation paid off. He was the one who looked at the old farm map and saw the "Old Man of the Hill" formation, realizing the clue "where the mountains weep" referred to the waterfalls that looked like tears on the rock face.
• Sooty's Promise: In one of his bravest moments, Mack sat with a dying mother koala and made a silent vow to care for her orphaned joey. By taking on the immense responsibility of raising Sooty, he showed that the biggest adventures are often the ones that come from the heart.
